Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG gets a Boost

The Mercedes-Benz GL63 has received a AMG beef injection with the use of a 5.5-litre twin turbo V8 engine that punches out 410kW with 760Nm of torque. This beast of an engine is mated with a Speedshift seven-speed transmission.

This all culminates in a 0-100km/h sprint in just 4.9 seconds and the Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG will rocket on to a top speed of 250km/h. These are some impressive figures and the GL 63 AMG also boasts superior off-road capability making use of adaptive air suspension all-wheel drive with a snazzy terrain response system.

Styling has been updated with a sportier AMG feel and the GL63 AMG now sports additional LED lighting and SL-style headlights. The SL63 AMG will go on sale in Europe come November. Although it may or may not make its way to South Africa, Mercedes-Benz South Africa has confirmed standard GL’s with engine variants similar to the current car, possibly with some BlueTech variants added to the mix in 2013.
